AI Nutrition Scanner privacy policy.

Effective 2026-10-29. Applies to the Android app.

AI Nutrition Scanner is made by Twistor Labs Private Limited (“we”). This policy explains what the app stores, where, and what can leave your phone.

The short version

Recognition runs on your phone. Your meal photos, meal log, profile and targets are never sent to us or to anyone else. There is no account, no analytics, no crash reporting and no ads. We do not have a server that holds your data, so there is nothing of yours for us to see, sell or train on.

What stays on your phone

The app keeps the following in its private storage on your phone:

  • Your profile: height, weight, age, sex, goal and activity level, used to work out your daily targets.
  • Your daily targets for calories, protein, carbs and fat.
  • Your meal log: time, date, timezone, dish name, serving size, calories, protein, carbs, fat and how confident the recognition was.
  • A copy of the photo of each meal you log. It is deleted when you delete the meal. Photos in your gallery are never changed.
  • Settings: theme, units, onboarding progress, your free-scan count and the recognition model you chose.
  • The recognition model files and a food nutrition table that ships with the app.

All of it is deleted when you uninstall the app.

What leaves your phone

Your meal photos, meal log, profile and health data: never. The only things that leave are these:

  • Model download. The recognition model downloads from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) during setup, and again if you choose the larger Max accuracy model. As with any download, Hugging Face sees your device's IP address and the app version. No personal data is sent.
  • Android backup. If Android backup is on for your phone, Android copies your meal log to your own Google account. Photos and model files are not included. We never see this backup; it is between you and Google, and you can turn it off in your phone's settings.
  • Subscriptions. After three free scans, scanning needs a subscription. Purchases are handled by Google Play, which processes the payment; we never see your card details. RevenueCat manages the subscription for us and receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase history, the device model, OS and app versions, and an IP address. It does not receive your photos, meals or profile.

Permissions

The app asks for the camera, to photograph a meal, and for access to photos you pick from your gallery. It uses the internet only for the model download and for subscriptions. You can withdraw any permission in your phone's settings; the app keeps working with what it still has.

Your control

You can edit or delete any meal from History, change your profile and targets at any time, and remove everything by uninstalling the app. Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to export or delete on our side.

Children

The app is not intended for children under 18.

Not medical advice

Calories and macros are estimates from a photo, to help you keep a log. They are not medical or dietary advice. Talk to a doctor or dietitian before making health decisions.

Changes

If a future version sends anything new off your phone, this page will say so before that version is released, with an updated effective date, and the app will ask you first.
