Why Twistor Labs

2026-10-23 · the Twistor Labs team

In the 1960s, Roger Penrose proposed a strange and beautiful idea: take the tangled geometry of spacetime, map it into a different space he called twistor space, and problems that looked hopeless become straight lines you can actually work with.

We are not physicists. But that move, carry a knotted problem somewhere it becomes simple, solve it there, bring the answer back, is exactly what good software does. So when this studio needed a name, the choice made itself. Twistor Labs. Complexity, untwisted.

What we build

Small products with one job each.

Allmount mounts any S3-compatible cloud, R2, S3, B2, your own MinIO, directly into Finder on a Mac and the Files app on an iPhone. The knot it untwists: your files live in five places and every place has its own clumsy app. One drive instead.

Vettly checks take-home assignments for hiring teams. It runs every submission in a sandbox, compares candidates, reads git history, and reports signals with evidence attached. The knot: reviewing take-homes is slow, inconsistent, and accusations without proof are poison. Vettly never issues a verdict; it shows its work and leaves judgement with people.

AI Nutrition Scanner logs a meal from a photo, with the model running entirely on the phone. The knot: food logging dies because it is tedious and because nobody wants their meals uploaded anywhere. Point, log, done, offline.

The three rules

Every product here keeps the same three rules, and they are on the home page because we intend to be held to them.

One job per product. Each product does one thing a person actually needs and refuses the rest. Feature lists do not untwist anything; they are how software gets knotted in the first place.

Ship, then sharpen. Working software first. Every release removes something that was not earning its place.

Nothing invented. Statuses on this site are real. There are no manufactured testimonials, no invented metrics, no logos of companies we have never spoken to. When a product is in build, the site says in build.

What happens next

Allmount is in beta. Vettly and the Scanner are in build. The now page stays current, and hello@twistorlabs.com reaches the people doing the work.
